I've been in this suite twice. Once in the Majestic and once in the Discovery princess. Awesome cabin. My only suggestion would be to have the same size but the bed close to the balcony. If you've ever been lucky enough to have the bed next to the balcony, it's more cathartic to leave the door slightly ajar and hear and feel the ocean.... it's truly awesome. We've found it's also nice to have the open space near the entry door and closets vs near the entry of the cabin.

HAL has nice big staterooms, much more spacious than the competition but fewer things to do onboard so it’s a trade off. Food is excellent though.

We did the HAL Panama cruise February and we had the beverage package also. It's a little annoying to sign off since the so called "tip" is included. Most of the time I just signed but occasionally we added a dollar for service like if they brought you a drink at the pool. The "don't serve yourself" buffet is ok with me and I'm not shy about asking for more or less of something. Languages can be a small problem. I think they don't want people touching the food and spreading germs. They make you wash your hands before entering the dining areas. I agree with your "pen everyone uses for drink sign-offs" concern. I caught Covid at the end and had plenty of drink "pen-touching" sign-offs during the trip...lol.

Very informative video!!! Just yesterday I booked a 10 day Mediterranean cruise on the Majestic Princess for early April of 2025. The cruise starts and ends in Civitavecchia and the ports are Corfu, Kusadasi, Athens, Messina, Naples, and Santorini. Hubby and I have previously done an Italy coastal cruise beginning and ending in Barcelona. We have already been to Rome which is good because we booked our flights through Princess and will arrive to Rome late morning embarkation day so really no time for an excursion and will head direction to the ship after our flight lands and the cruise leaves at 6:00 pm. I know you are an Amazon gal and I still get items from Amazon too, but once I discovered Temu and the unique travel items they carry including clothing and shoes with prices hard to beat, Temu is now my primary go to place for cruise essentials. Just received from Temu which I ordered for a Caribbean Cruise I am going on in January a carry on that I love!! It is 17"x1 7" and has a separate zip bottom for shoes and is also a back pack and the price was $13. It does not have a sleeve to attach to your rolling luggage but got an add a bag strap also from Temu which works perfect with this bag Just ordered a 2nd bag with strap for my husband as these will be perfect for our Med cruise. Also check out Big Skinny wallets on Amazon. I have had mine for 10 years and not only does it travel with me it is my every day wallet. Lastly, love my Flanabag TSA qt. liquid bag which I have had as long as my wallet. Happy cruising. 😁

Question- would you recommend an aft balcony for the Mexican Riviera? How does it compare to a balcony in the front of the ship as far as movement?

We have done two cruises both in late May and I don't think I would ever change that. Weather was great I'll be at a little bit rainy but crowds were moderate and the only downside are no Bears or salmon for the most part

Has to be my favorite cabin category over all the lines we have been on. That curtain separator is the BEST. and (2) TVs keeps the sleeping in and the early riser happy happy.

Just got back from an Alaskan cruise on Ruby Princess. Had a balcony cabin on deck 11 for myself, friends had a mini-suite on deck 9, group of three. The higher up decks you go, the smaller the balcony. That being said, when I toured their cabin, was amazed how spacious it was with the sofa area, balcony, and bathroom. For myself, a regular balcony cabin was plenty of room. If it was a family of three or four, definitely would go with the mini suite. Don't feel on top of one another especially when getting ready for dinner, getting back from tours, etc.

We had a mini suite on the Regal out of Galveston. It was very nice.

Just got back last month from Alaska on HAL’s Zaandam. We lucked out on having fantastic weather, sunny every day. Temps were in the mid-50s sometimes reaching low 60s (around 10-16C). Which side for your room? What you said is correct, however, if you’re taking a one-way trip from Seattle, you want to be on the Starboard side. One way from the north, port side. Round trip doesn’t matter because one side sees it going up, and the other going back down. I will say, you get better viewing for longer on both sides if you take the inside passage (leave from Vancouver), than if you don’t. We spent time on our balcony, the deck, and the Crow’s Nest while in Glacier Bay. Each had its benefits, and none were bad. Also totally agree about booking excursions from just the cruise line. My friend snd I only had one excursion (Tracy Arm fjord) booked through HAL, and our friends booked two (one in Ketchikan). The rest of our excursions were through third parties. Great excursions. Fantastic time overall, and loved every minute of it.

It’s great that you can afford a mini suite now, but most of us can’t. I miss the days of new upstart cruise RUclipsrs giving us tip on how to cruise cheaply because that’s all they could afford then too.

So fun to see you back on HAL. It’s been about 20 years since we sailed them. Miss that size of ship! Glad you enjoyed the tub but we dislike stepping into a tub for our shower and it takes away head space for taller people. Looking forward to that glass shower situation on Sun Princess!

You do understand that your complaint about signing for drinks and your complaint about the crew serving you in the buffet are the exact opposite? If you want to avoid germ points with the pens, then you should be glad for avoiding the germ points of other people handling utensils in the buffet. How many times have you seen other passengers go into the buffet without washing their hands? Just saying...
